Yo, so I really like dreamland and I could fill in a postion for french-english translator :].

Guess I should also post a bit about myself like methaniel ^_^. My first language is English (2nd is Filipino), but I do live in Quebec, so I was pretty much forced to learn french :]. Ive been reading manga everyday since 2008, but that is pretty much the only experience I have for manga. Always wanted to try joining a scanlating group, but my photoshop skills are not very good and I don't know languages like Japanese or Korean. Taught this would be a good chance to join one :].

Sorry to mess things up, but hey, how could you translate:
"Ah bon"
by putting "Oh good?" (which is kinda nonsense).

With grammar errors such as "your" and not "you're", that's kinda low and I don't think literal translation is really the best thing to do when you're translating.

I'm sorry to tell you, but I am against it.

Pardonnez le fait que je désorganise un peu le tout, mais c'est plutôt choquant lorsque je vois "Ah bon ?" traduit par "Oh good?" qui voudrait plutôt dire "Ah bien ?" (ce qui n'a plutôt pas de sens).

Avec des erreurs de grammaire en plus comme "your" au lieu de "you're", c'est plutôt bas comme niveau, et je ne pense pas que la traduction littérale puisse aider lors d'une traduction.

Je suis désolé de vous le dire, mais je suis contre.

No, this is wrong. It's like spelling "definitly" 'cause you actually say "dee-fi-ni-t'ly" but the correct word is "definitely".

But I still appreciate the thought, of course I do, I'm not saying that MY English is perfect, it is not the case.
I'm just saying that this will be read by many native English speakers (I hope so XD), but there are also non-native whose English understanding is not as deep as others.
So, if there are weird sentences such as "Oh good" where it' supposed to be "Oh yeah", it will definetely confuse them.

That's why I can't accept, nothing less, nothing more.

Everyday day, thousands of soldiers go to war. Some of them comes back years later, traumatized. Others, who are not so lucky, or maybe even better off, die in combat. Is dying in combat worth it? Or are they better off coming back to their love ones, even if they are a mess.

Well I guess it rolls quite well when it comes to simpler forms.
Some typos here and there I believe but it seems ok.

I guess you could try having less literal translation but if you don't get the whole meaning of the language, I can imagine that's a bit hard.
Like yeah, translating "naze de notre ville" which would be "the sucker of our town" (which is senseless...) by "the village fool" is a good example, I mean, it may not be obvious, but it's the kind of translation that makes the translation more genuine.

My opinion is that you should have a try, I'll double-check your translations and maybe you can improve your French as well with this method... it will surely be slower but I don't really mind, it would be as if there were 2 people translating one chapter at the beginning but I hope one day you'll be able to translate from French to English (and from English to French, obviously) by your own. :]


Oh, I totally forgot, by the way, d'you mind to introduce yourself shortly (or you can have a long introduction, I don't really mind). I just want to know why you would want to help us translate, that's all. Tell us whatever you want to, but don't say anything too personal, we don't want to know what we aren't supposed to.
